DOMESTIC WORKERS NEED YOUR HELP DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
Since 2018, UDWOSA has supported more than 1,000 domestic workers to address issues of minimum wage, working hours, non-compliance, the registration of domestic workers with the Unemployment Insurance Fund and contract negotiation, along with the racial, verbal, physical and mental abuse of domestic workers.
Facing an uncertain future, too many South African women are forced to beg for the survival of their families as they lose their livelihoods or worse. They are being criminalized and sometimes physically beaten into submission for working during the lockdowns.
What happens to the families of thousands of caregivers, drivers, and gardeners who get hurt or die as a result of the work they do?
