United Domestic Workers
of South Africa

The voices of domestic workers must be heard

Our mission is to protect the basic human rights of South Africa's domestic workers.

Since 2018, UDWOSA has supported more than 1,000 domestic workers to address issues of minimum wage, working hours, non-compliance, the registration of domestic workers with the Unemployment Insurance Fund and contract negotiation, along with the racial, verbal, physical and mental abuse of domestic workers.

UDWOSA is fundraising to directly provide workers with Resiliency Grants

Facing an uncertain future, too many South African women are forced to beg for the survival of their families as they lose their livelihoods or worse. They are being criminalized and sometimes physically beaten into submission for working during the lockdowns.

They need our help.

Many domestic workers are the sole providers for their families.

What happens to the families of thousands of caregivers, drivers, and gardeners who get hurt or die as a result of the work they do?
